THIS IS NOT FAKE if shipped by Amazon. BEST product out there!
I had a recent issue with my EltaMd UV Physical Tinted Facial Sunscreen and contacted EltaMD directly to inquire about an interaction I was having with this and another product – together, they created a funky odor. I just stopped using the other product with it and all is well. Since I saw reviews calling the product shipped from Amazon a fake, I asked Elta’s representative and she said that it is SAFE to get this product from Amazon as long as it isn’t coming from a third party seller. EltaMD actually sends Amazon this product directly to sell on the Amazon website. When you purchase this product, look just above the Add to Cart button and make sure it says “ships from and sold by Amazon”. If it says that, it is the real thing. This is one of the best products out there for protecting your face from the harmful effects of the sun. It is not greasy in the slightest. The tint is light. It won’t totally cover blemishes but gives just enough coverage to brighten and protect your face without feeling heavy or feeling sticky. It looks really natural on me and I forget it’s there. I have rosacea but love going for walks. Because I have thick hair, hats are uncomfortable so I really needed an effective zinc-based sunscreen to protect my face when out in the day. This product is the best I’ve ever used. Don’t hesitate to buy it. Just make sure it says “shipped and sold by Amazon” before you click. If you are still concerned, contact EltaMD through their website for confirmation. — Yeah-Nah reviewed

Perfection in a tube !
This stuff is AMAZING ! I’ve worked medical in dermatology for the last 10 years & out of all the SPF I’ve used this is by far the BEST ! The products consistency is smooth, moisturizing, going on flawlessly every time, and is almost odorless. The tints pigment is just the right shade to make it universal for lighter or darker complected skin tones. An added bonus is the size/amount of product you get in a tube . I use anywhere from a nickle to quarter size amount daily (quarter size is what you should be using to get the full amount of SPF labeled on the bottle) on my face, ears, neck, chest & backs of my hands and it lasts me a few months which is insane in my world . Do not hesitate to give this product a try !!! — Yeah-Nah reviewed

Outstanding product.
Hands down this sunblock is my absolute favorite. It works great, non greasy/oily, and does not break me out! Which is quite amazing considering everything breaks me a out. And when I say everything I mean everything. I’m an esthetician and have tried soooo many things. This product is also safe for post treatment skin which is why it is popular in dermatologists offices. I use this on my 3 year old also and don’t have to worry because the ingredients are safe and high quality. I highly recommend this product. — Sharon reviewed

My Dermatologist’s Can’t Live Without Product
I hate to be too forward, but I am no stranger to tinted sunscreens. I have been on a quest for years to find the perfect sunscreen – not greasy, not smelly, not too chemicall-y, one that won’t break me out, one that doesn’t make me look like a Cheetoh or magnify my crow’s feet – you know, the small things.
I have tried everything from Paula’s choice, Coola, CotZ, Kiehls, and many I have forgotten the names of, but it all equals up tp a veritable fortune spent on the sunscreen lottery. This quest, unfortunately, has been like trying to find a unicorn, the Holy Grail, or the perfect cheeseburger – elusive…until now.
I have fair skin, and as I age (over 40), my skin shows sun spots, continues to break out, and overall, takes the "graceful" out of my aging process. Instead of asking my dermatologist what she recommended, I finally asked what product she couldn’t live without. Until she mentioned EltaMD, I had never heard of the product. Although I thought the price was high ($30 for the tube), considering the fortune I’d spent in disappointing products previously, this was a drop in the bucket, so I decided to take the chance. I am so glad I did.
Unlike the review claiming the product was fake, the product I received was authentic. It was, as they say in the formulation industry, an "elegant" formulation. Easy to apply, not greasy, or streaky, and dried to a matte finish without any hint of chemical smell. I apply the EltaMD as the last step over a SkinMedica skin care regime, and I couldn’t be happier with the coverage or the product. Fewer breakouts, too, than when I was using other brands.
Bring it on, aging! — MHWiley reviewed

Love this stuff!
I wear this under my bare minerals powder foundation for better coverage. My dermatologist recommended it and I do love it! I have very sensitive skin and cannot wear most sunscreens and primers. Also, I cannot wear liquid foundation at all without breaking out! This stuff is truly sensitive skin safe! I highly recommend it! 🙂 — TwinMom reviewed

Great physical sunscreen
I prefer physical sunscreens (zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide), but they usually leave a strong white cast on my face. I have medium yellow-olive skin so the white cast is really noticeable. This sunscreen is great because the slight tint really does eliminate the white cast. The tint is definitely neutral. Anything with a slightly pink undertone will show up super pink on my skin and this sunscreen blends in pretty good. It’s not a perfect match, but with a little bronzer, it’s a great daily base. I love the quality of the sun protection, too. I feel sufficiently protected when I am outside, although I do reapply every couple hours or so. This sunscreen is perfect for daily use. I will absolutely repurchase this. I have used Elta MD screens in the past and I have been happy with every product I have used from them. I actually prefer this sunscreen to the Asian sunscreens that are popular at the moment. If you like physical sunscreens over chemical ones and you have trouble with white cast, this sunscreen is definitely one to look in to. — Toni R. reviewed

For those of us who can’t use chemical sunscreens but hate mineral;)
I have acne, rosacea, and generally VERY sensitive skin. Through MUCH trial and error with chalky zinc based sunscreens, tinted sunscreens, greasy sunscreens, and everything in-between I found Elta MD. Now I can’t use any of their combination sunscreens (I turn BRIGHT red) and I can’t use their oil free tinted mineral sunscreen (NEVER Dries down) but this is silky and moisturizing without greasy, sticky grossness:)
Because I want reapplication benefits I tend to apply first thing in the morning and once set (15-20 min) I apply a mineral powdered sunscreen over it and every 2-3 hours to keep up the sun protection. This does work under makeup as long as you wait for it to set (what you should be doing with ALL sunscreen). I still set makeup with mineral sunscreen powder and reapply 3-4 times per day. Side note, you may not really need foundation unless you have a lot to cover. I found it makes my skin look even and supple and I can get away without foundation most of the time. — Lenny Peters reviewed -
Perfect in every way!
I absolutely love this tinted sunscreen. I have sensitive skin, am 38 and this works for me as a sunscreen/foundation all in one. The tube is 3 oz and lasts for a very long time. I have been using this for the past year and a half. I do not like heavy make up and this works wonderfully as a light base, I never break out and the color of the tint is light to light medium. EltaMD makes excellent stuff:) Recommend. — Idontwantapublicname reviewed

Very good sunscreen, with some slight cons
I have heard EltaMD representatives say that you can buy their real product directly from Amazon – just in case people are worried because of the people claiming this is fake. This is a very good sunscreen. Has some cons, but no sunscreen is perfect I suppose.
Pros:
– This sunscreen only uses mineral filters. A good thing about mineral sunscreen is that it is often less likely to irritate/sting my eyes and it might be better for people with sensitive or acne-prone skin (but everyone’s skin is different).
– Decent UVA protection. Unlike most other American companies, EltaMD provides more info about the UVA protection for their sunscreens and they say this is at least PA+++ (from their website)
– Tint works well enough for me. I have somewhat fair skin though – it might not work that well on dark skin tones
– Water-resistant, at least spf 30, and broad spectrum (the 3 things to look for according to the American Academy of Dermatology
Cons:
– Isn’t particularly moisturizing and can sometimes seem flaky when up close, but I think it looks fine at a normal distance from my face.
– I’m skeptical that one tint will really work for all skin tones.
– Expensive (but at least it’s not as expensive as some of the other EltaMD sunscreens) — Edyta K reviewed -
Doesn’t burn your eyes!
I LOVE this Elta sunscreen. I first discovered it at Kaiser Permanente pharmacies, for a slightly lower price. The other Elta sunscreens are really hard to blend, but this one is far easier since it is tinted. I have olive colored skin, and it is not quite dark enough, but it does better than any I’ve found. I mean, it’s not a cosmetic tinted moisturizer after all. I put this on after I finish my skincare routine, and just before any additional foundation I may or may not apply. I lather it all over, and I can even rub it across my eyes (IKR?), and it does not burn. This is the first sunscreen I’ve found that didn’t burn my eyes, and trust me, I’ve tried alot of natural sunscreen. My only wish for this product is that the spf would be higher. At any rate, I’m happy and am now on subscribe and save because this is one of my favorite products. — Kevin Steele reviewed

This is a great sunscreen. Unlike every sunscreen I have tried in …
This is a great sunscreen. Unlike every sunscreen I have tried in the past, it does NOT smell bad, leave me feeling greasy and "coated", or break me out, and I’ve used it on my face every day for the past 6 weeks. The light tint blends well with my skin tone, and I think would blend with a lot of different tones, it’s mostly there just to make sure you don’t get a white cast. It didn’t show up or turn orange on me at all. The product feels good and best of all, doesn’t congest my skin or leave me feeling, or looking, oily and shiny. I’ve tried so many, and this is THE ONE. It is pricey, but the tube is a good size and will last me a long time, and it was important for me to find a physical block (rather than chemical) so I am very happy. — JJR reviewed

Love this tinted sunscreen and I wear it as a foundation or under makeup. No scent and moisturizing
This stuff is great! It has no smell what so ever and it is moisturizing! I wear it alone over my moisturizer or as a primer under makeup. If you use it under makeup, wait about 15 minutes to let it sink in before foundation. I use a beauty blender for my foundation because if you use a brush it will sometimes pill if you put on too heavy of a layer under makeup. It feels so nice on the skin. The tint is for light skin tones (I have light skin with pink undertones) and it covers minor imperfections and redness easily. I highly recommend. This might also work for fair skin types but definitely not medium skin types. This is my everyday go to sunblock and I even use it on my arms too after moisturizing. Definitely nice for dry to combo skin types. I would think if you go the beach or will be in a lot of sun there are higher spfs that you would need. — JJR reviewed

Perfect for everyday
I bought this after hearing rave reviews from several friends and “borrowing” a few applications myself. I am very fair, and was worried that the tint would be too dark, but it blends perfectly. It’s just the right amount of coverage for everyday wear and the higher spf also means that you can wear it on the beach and look good in those pictures! I’m in my mid 40s, so moisture is everything – this isn’t the most moisturizing lotion I’ve used, but it’s enough for daytime. Sometimes I’ll put a cream underneath, but then this lotion slides a bit. It is tinted, and the color does transfer if you wipe your sweaty face and then touch something else. It is truly gentle and great for sensitive skin – it doesn’t irritate my skin or my eyes, and I just apply this all over my face. My sister originally found this through the dermatologist’s office, so it’s legit. I really, really like this for spf/coverage. I won’t be without it ever! — B. Sch reviewed

and I like how much I got in the tube
I was hesitant to order because I’ve heard of the “white casting” it could leave on your face… but I also realized you can’t put a product in your palm and rub your hands together and put it all over your face. I have found if you put a small layer on your face (enough to properly cover), it dries quickly and leaves your face looking normal. I have since decided to keep the product and continue using it. It’s light, the smell disappears once it’s on, and I like how much I got in the tube. Will order again. — KVF reviewed

Sunscreen without the TELL
I put this stuff on my face and chest and even around my eyes. It doesn’t sting or feel greasy. It feels great! It’s slightly tinted and is easily worn with or without make-up. This was recommended by an Esthetician after a chemical peel. I will NOT use anything else. There are a few different kinds including Sport which is white and works wells. THIS STUFF, simply amazing. DOES NOT SMELL LIKE SUNSCREEN! Woo Hoo! I’d order a case of this stuff without hesitation. LOVE Elta MD products. — Vanessa reviewed

love love love this
Feels great on my skin, not too greasy and not too cakey, not too dried-out feeling like the Michelle tinted sunscreen, doesnt cake or look weird on the eyebrows or hairline. Looks good and kindof glowy on my skin. I dont wear heavy make up- just this and mascara and am happy with how it smooths out some of my discoloration with out looking like a “make-up” look. My skin is olive/tan definitely not a fair tone. I’ve been trying LOTS of different brands all summer feel like this one is better than Physician’s formula (tried 5 different ones in their line), Michelle, and other ones bought at Sprouts. So happy to have found this product. Love it. — Ms A. Dema reviewed

I’m so happy I found this
I’m so happy I found this. My skin is so so sensitive that chemical sunscreens either give me allergy patches or burn upon contact. I needed a mineral sunscreen with a high spf that I could wear daily without having a white mask on like with most zinc sunscreens. This goes on matte like it’s not even there yet has mineral nonirritating ingredients and a slight tint so I don’t have to wear makeup on top. The tint matches my skin perfectly, I am light skin with yellow/ tan undertones, and the coverage is enough that you can’t see my acne scars. It also somehow makes me look pore-less even more than my bare minerals foundation does. I’m insecure about my pores and hoping it will reduce them in size over time due to the daily UV protection. Can’t wait to try using it on my neck too, it’s that gentle. 🙂 — ks reviewed

1st use : impressed – UPDATE : still impressed.
UPDATE :
– I’m not seeing the dryness otjer reviewers are talking about. I wear this over a rich moiturizer.
– Tint can look a tad orange on fair skin if you try to apply thickly, which i did this morning. Will stick with applying generously but not thickly.
5 stars it remains!!——-
I just received this sunscreen, applied it right away. I am impressed by this product.
It goes on completely seamlessly on my skin, tint is on point – completely invisible. And dries matte very fast. This is such a departure from my Dr Jart titanium dioxide sunscreen that left me SO white and shiny all day.
On the flipside, I am left wondering how much to apply to get protection. The texture is so fluid, I could spread a minimal amount and cover my whole face. I am so used to seeing the white cast, or feeling the product, that without those I almost don’t feel protected! What a nice problem to have.
Minor thing, I guess I was expecting a little bit of coverage with the tint, and avoid foundation altogether. Like I mentioned, while orange/beige out of the tube, this sunscreen looks completely invisible on my skin and I get zero blurring or correcting/evening effect. I’ll probably keep using a smidge of foundation, but I can forgo the setting powder I was using with the shiny Dr Jart.I’ll update once I have used it for a few weeks. I am a little concerned about how drying it might be, as this has been brought up by other reviewers. — Liz reviewed

Buy this!
Note: Product I received seems legitimate.
I have been using this product for 6 years. This is a great physical sunscreen with no sunscreen smell and great sun protection coverage. I have acne prone sensitive skin and it does not cause breakouts or make me oily at the end of the day. The tint works great for my very fair skin and I use this on top of a moisturizer as a foundation layer. I layer with a pressed powder to add coverage for blemishes.
I wish they made a version of this product tint free- I find the product can rub off on pillows when napping and it gets under my fingernails when I scratch an itch on my face. — Agatha reviewed

The BEST sunscreen for your face!!!
By far the BEST sunscreen I have ever used on my face. This brand is recommended by my dermatologist, but it’s cheaper to buy products through Amazon, to be honest. I am incredibly diligent with applying the product (every 2-3 hours during the day), and it doesn’t grease my face up. It actually looks between healthy and matte. The tint is perfect for my skin tone, but don’t think it is a substitute for foundation. It will help a little with dark under circles, mainly because of the film sunscreens seem to leave behind. These aren’t really my priorities. I like the anti-aging properties of wearing sunscreen in general, and because I use a retinoid too, I HAVE to protect my face from the sun. Overall, I will never use another product! — martha g. reviewed

One of the best sunscreens for me.
I keep coming back to this one. It is — by far — one of the best sunscreens for my face. I mostly use it on its own; however, now and again, I mix it with Paula’s Choice RESIST Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF30: 1/2 and 1/2.
When I can no longer get any more out of the tube, I cut it in half because there’s a lot more inside. I just wiggle the cut-off top part into the bottom half to keep it moist until I need some more.
It’s tricky to find a good sunscreen for one’s face — I’ve experimented with a lot of them: this one works for me. — martha g. reviewed

Best Tinted Physical Sunscreen for Oily, Acne-Prone Skin
I’m very acne prone with super oily skin. This is the only physical sunscreen I’ve found that isn’t greasy. I wouldn’t say it’s matte, but it doesn’t make you shiny either. I’ve never had a problem with breakouts while using it. I have very fair skin with a cool undertone and the tint is almost perfect. It evens out my skin a little bit which is good. Also, the color doesn’t oxidize and become darker. I just wish EltaMD would make a tinted facial sunscreen with 20% zinc. If you don’t want a tinted sunscreen, go with MD Solar Sciences Mineral Creme. It’s more expensive, but has 20% zinc oxide. — Daniel Murray reviewed

Covers my rosacea, great tone for fair skin, easy on/off, non-staining
Got this via a dermatologist recommendation & am very pleased with it, even at the height of summer in the high desert. I have sensitive skin & full-blown rosacea but this doesn’t irritate my skin & provides excellent coverage of red, bumpy skin. I get nasty cystic flares from sun exposure & the Elta does a good job preventing those, along with the usual sunburn prevention. Goes on easily, doesn’t smear & washes out easily if you do get it on clothing.
I’m a very fair-skinned old white broad (Maybelline #105 Fair Ivory is my skin tone, if that helps), & the tint on this looks natural enough on me that I don’t have to worry about blending it all in perfectly. I don’t know how it looks on someone with a richer skin tone, but for very fair-skinned folks, either warm or cool complected, you won’t have any problems with it looking unnatural. — mizblueyes reviewed

Amazing!! New staple in my daily makeup routine!
This is a STELLAR product. I am currently on Tretinoin (acne treatment) mostly for blackheads but also for some cystic acne. I have always had skin more on the oily side but after starting Tretinoin my skin has some dry spots. I have also stopped using any face products that have pore clogging ingredients and this has made finding a good tinted moisturizer/foundation difficult. For reference, my perfect foundation match is bare minerals original foundation in the shade light. My skin tone is light to medium with yellow undertones. I was afraid this would be too on the neutral side but it blends beautifully with my skin tone. It doesn’t have an overwhelming tint but just enough for use on a daily basis. I have layered this underneath foundation and have not found that it pills (I let it sink in for about ~15 minutes). I wear this over the elta md am moisturizer and it’s perfect. It’s definitely not on the greasy side so it may be drying for people with very dry skin. I wear a little of a shine reducing primer and it works great. This has become a staple in my daily beauty routine and I just set it with a little primer (honestly you may not even need to) and add some concealer and bronzer and I’m good to go. HIGHLY recommend. For $31 for 3 oz this is a steal to use as a bb/cc cream! I will say, I use a different sunscreen on my neck and chest but this does layer well with other sunscreens. — Athena PN reviewed

Excellent sunscreen that provides a delicate ‘make up’ effect
This was originally purchased through my dermatologist’s office, so I was especially glad to discover that I could find it on Amazon for less money and the avoidance of a 40-mile round trip. I wear it every single day to protect my face, but it actually also acts as a very delicate sheer make up. It’s non-drying, and made for “post procedure” skin, so it’s a sun screen that will not clog pores or create break-outs, which is a huge advantage to me. This is my third tube, and I’ll keep using it as long as they produce it. — mmm49 reviewed

Great for sensitive post procedure skin
I had little hope for this sunscreen as there is not a single one on the market that has not caused me to break out. Expensive, drugstore, boutique, chemical, mineral- doesnt matter- my skin has tried and hated it. My dermatologist recently had to make a 1 inch incision on my face and said i HAVE to wear sunscreen or it will scar and she recommended this. From day one, my reactive and hyper sensitive skin has seemed calmer and more clear. I have moderately fair skin and find the tint is lighter than my complexion even though it looks dark when applying. It is not moisturizing, but i didnt expect it to be. My incision is healing faster than usual, i think due to the zinc content. I layer this over my moisturizer and dont reapply during the day. Have not experienced any tanning on my face and we live down South- i spend a lot of time outdoors. A little goes a long way (pea size amount covers my face well) so while not cheap, I do expect the bottle to last a while. Also amazon IS an authorized seller of this brand in 2019- i checked! — NanaJana reviewed

Perfect for Sensitive Skin
I use this sunscreen every day on my face. It’s lightly tinted and provides great protection. It doesn’t provide much coverage in regards to blemishes, so I still wear my normal concealer on top. My only complaint is that when I reapply in the afternoon, I notice it doesn’t absorb as well and I see more texturing on my face. (It’s fine if I wash my face first, but I’m not always home and able to do that.) Still, it’s a must-have for sensitive skin! Will definitely continue to reorder! — MarvelousMrsBateman reviewed

Feels light and looks natural!
I’ve been trying numerous sunscreens for years and just tried this one this week. I’m writing this review to say this is the best! Especially with CeraVe lotion, it sinks in and skin is moist and dewy. I should say I’m 41 years old and regularly use retin-a, C-serum and acids, my skin is very dry and my pores are huge. Most zinc sunscreens dry me out and make me look older, skin gets cakey and the dryness accentuates my large pores. This sunscreen blurred my pores and feels light and natural. I don’t need foundation with this, only under eye concealer. Beware if you use after a thick cream as it can pill, for example with CeraVe cream it pilled, CeraVe lotion (which is a lighter moisturizer) set beautifully!
